Liverpool

I took these photographs of the old docks at Liverpool in 2011 when I was at a conference in the Conference Centre. They evoke memories for me, in good part because my father used to work for the Mersey Docks & Harbour Company and was with them when they made the decision to "resurrect" the old buildings. He first took the family there when the redevelopment was little more than a twinkle in the board's collective eye. And then we used to visit periodically. I happen to love the solid buildings, the modern use and the connections with the new Liverpool across in Liverpool One. Of course the two cathedrals are important in the City, and I only photographed the Anglican one on this particualr visit.

I was also taken (as you can see!) by the Liverpool Eye next to the Echo Arena and the O2 Conference Centre. It really is a joy to visit the City.

I shall have to return!
